Inishowen childcare group seeks a home 16.08.07

THE Inishowen Kindergarten which starts next month as a parent and child group is looking for a home.
The Kindergarten seeks to provide a holistic early education experience for children from three and a half years old, drawing from the Steiner methodology. Steiner, also known as Waldorf, addresses the development of the whole child, i.e., "hands, heart and head".
Members of the Inishowen Kindergarten group. “A home-like atmosphere is a feature of these Kindergartens. The children play in a kitchen setting and spend quite a bit of time outside, digging and playing and letting their imaginations be free. Therefore the grounds would ideally have a few trees and an open area,” said founding member, Kathleen O’Hara Farren.
The committee would like to hear from anyone who can offer land or premises within a ten-mile radius of Moville.
“For the moment we would like to meet a house owner whose house is not in use during the school term. Or perhaps you have a ‘granny flat’. We would rent the place for two to three mornings a week and could pay a reasonable community rate. Also, we offer some home improvements. The important thing is to provide these children with a natural and safe setting for their early years in education," added Kathleen. Eventually the group would like to have their own site and building.
Meanwhile, they are doing a survey about the needs of parents with young children in the Inishowen area. If you think you can offer or suggest a premises or want to take part in the survey, you can log on to www.inishowenkindergarten.com .
