Greencastle and QP get eircom broadband 30.08.07

Faster internet access via broadband is now being provided by eircom in Greencastle and Quigley’s Point.
Two telephone exchanges have been enabled to allow the provision of high speed internet services to residents in both areas of Inishowen.
Donegal North East T.D., Deputy Niall Blaney welcomed the measures and said he was assured a further 19 areas in the county would be serviced by eircom "without delay".
“Broadband is a vital tool in life as we know it today," he said. “Whether it is for business or pleasure, people want
it to be available in their areas and they are entitled to that option.
“Broadband is particularly important for the development of industry, however, and for that reason I particularly welcome this announcement from eircom," he added.
The Fianna Fail deputy said the majority of homes in Ireland would be connected to broadband within two years.
“We are making great strides in the enabling of the service throughout the country. Within two years, 96 per cent of the working telephone lines in the country will be connected to a broadband exchange."
