New website for local businesses 01.10.07

BUSINESS agencies in Donegal and Derry have launched a new website to mark the roll-out of their business promotion programme..
Pictured at the launch of the new website are, from left, Tommy Callaghan, Manna Design; Eileen Doherty, Donegal County Enterprise Board; Barry Rooney, North West Marketing; Matt Peachy, Derry City Council and Aeidin McCarter, Donegal County Council. The website is part of the ‘Ireland North West - Making Business Happen’ project - a joint initiative between Donegal County Council, Derry City Council, North West Marketing and the Donegal County Enterprise Board.
These agencies want to accelerate economic growth on both sides of the border by co-operating in four areas - stimulating local entrepreneurship, encouraging
emigrants to return home, driving exports in existing businesses and synchronising public policy for business.
“This is the first time agencies on both side of the border have co-operated this closely on a programme”, said Donegal County Enterprise Board enterprise development officer Eileen Doherty.
“We’ve rapidly assembled a team who are focusing on growing the key elements of the local economy – the small business sector, start-up businesses, and businesses with strong growth and export potential.”
The website is the first step in building up a network of participating businesses in Donegal and Derry. Visitors can register their contact details on the site to be kept informed as the roll-out of the programme continues in the next few weeks. The initiative has been part financed by the EU's Interreg programme. If you would like to participate or find out more, contact Eileen Doherty on 074 91 60735 or email edoherty@donegalenterprise.ie .
You can log on to the new website at www.irelandnorthwest.eu .
