Donegal delegation for Dublin Design Week 08.10.07

A DELEGATION from Donegal will take part next month in Dublin Design Week 2007.
The trip has been organised by the Donegal Design Directorate Accel Project which aims to improve the competitiveness of Donegal companies.
The Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. Among the highlights of the visit will be a branding workshop at the Guinness Storehouse. Other features will be the Irish Design Institute’s annual Design Awards Exhibition; a Design Exhibition in the Digital Hub near St. James’ Gate and a design show at the Royal Irish Academy, followed by a networking dinner.
Membership of the Donegal Design Directorate has climbed to 70 local firms in less than a year.
Manager Aisling Lynch said the Dublin visit
would be a useful promotion and networking event.
“This is a great opportunity for local companies to see the latest in Irish design trends and to learn how they can use brands to grow their business”, she said. “The previous best-practice visits have created a lot of business opportunities and we think the Dublin trip could be the most successful yet."
Meanwhile, the directorate will host a ‘Design on Film’ event on Wednesday, November 7, in the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny. The three short films, including one by veteran film director Sidney Pollack and another on the architect Frank Gehry, will be followed by a wine reception.
