Proud day at local nursing home 14.05.07

Friday was a proud day at Buncrana Nursing Unit with the launch of 'Bits & Pieces' a lovely little booklet of poems, prayers, old wives' tales and potions.
Back L-R, Jim Cavanagh, Bridget Lynch and Catherine McClay. Front L-R, Breege McKinney, Lizzie McNutt and Bridget Bradley. The 55-page booklet was lovingly compiled over a number of months by the clients of the local nursing home with the help of staff. Staff member, Fiona Lavery explained: "We've been working together on 'Bits & Pieces' for about six months and it's great to see it come to fruition.
"We had great fun putting it together and enjoyed many happy hours reminiscing about the old stories, sayings, cures and remedies."
As the introduction, however, warns: "We cannot say they've all been tried and tested and we decided in some cases the cure was worse than the actual disease!"
Nevertheless, if it's a cough, corn or carbuncle that's at you, you're likely to find the 'cure' in 'Bits & Pieces'.
Among the staff who helped out were Fiona Lavery, Georgina McFadden, Siobhan Harkin and day care sister Madeleine Guerin, who thanked Swilly Print Ltd., for taking care of the printing.

Recipes were provided by Kathleen Curran, Josie Grant, Kathleen McClay and Brenda Greenhaugh.
'Bits & Pieces' is now on sale in a number of Buncrana outlets including Mac's Newsagents, Eurospar, Good Morning Inishowen, Jim McLaughlin's and the Nursing Unit.
