Clonmany Tug-O-War team on RTE

THE Clonmany Tug-of War
team that lifted the world title earlier this year
will feature on RTE One's 'Nationwide' programme
next week.
The strong-armed local lads took gold in the Tug of
War World Championships in Faenza, Northern Italy,
in February in the 640kg category. |

The brave Clonmany B
team beat all the odds to clinch the title after
undergoing a gruelling year-long training schedule.
Captain Pat Doherty (PV) and vice captains Daniel
Doherty (Ranty) and Kevin McLaughlin had decided
that a new approach was needed if they were to reach
the top of their sport. The members of the squad
were Steven McDaid, Christy McDaid, George Jackson,
brothers Michael and Aidan Doherty (Andy), Daniel
Junior and Patrick Doherty (Ranty). You can see them
in action on 'Nationwide' on Wednesday, June 18 at
7pm. |
