Inishowen men lift tractor-building trophy 07.04.08

IF YOU want a tractor built in double quick time - under ten minutes in fact - look no further than east Inishowen.

Inishowen men build a tractor in under ten minutes. Four members of the Inishowen Vintage Agricultural Club have lifted the All Ireland Tractor Building Championship title.
Noel Doherty, Darragh Doherty, Joey Lyle and Sean McDermott travelled to the Ballygawley and Roscavey Vintage Show recently where they pitted their mechanical skills against "the boys from Mountbellew".
And it was to be Inishowen's
day in the tractor pit stop as the men from the Moville area went on to lift the Irish Vintage Scene trophy.
The local lads clinched the title in a record time of 9 minutes and 44 seconds!
Meanwhile, the Inishowen Agricultural Vintage Show organisers will hold their 7th annual Vintage Show on Sunday, June 8, 2008 in the Carrick Field, Moville.
The show had its beginnings in 2001 with only 55 exhibits but by last year, this had grown to a whopping 250 exhibits. It's known as a great family day out and now attracts an average of around 3,000 spectators from throughout the North West each year. Popular exhibits every year include a threshing demonstration, butter churning, the blacksmith at work and basket weaving. For photos from last year's event, click here
