SPORTS and community
groups around Inishowen are being urged not to miss
the deadline to apply for grants this year.
Applications are invited from all local sports
organisations, clubs, community groups, VECs and
local authorities for the development of sports
facilities and/or the purchase of sports equipment.
Deputy Niall Blaney encouraged all interested groups
to apply for the funding that brought more than €3m
to the county last year.
“Local groups to benefit included Moville GAA Club;
Letterkenny Gaels GAA Club and Letterkenny Rugby
Football Club; Donegal GAA County Board; Swilly
Rovers Football Club; Letterkenny Community
Gymnastics Club; Carrigart Boxing Club; Kerrykeel
Park Development Co. Ltd., Cappry Rovers AFC," said
Deputy Blaney.
He said Donegal had a "proud sports legacy"
particularly in the GAA and he encouraged all active
sports groups to avail of the funding available.
“Since 1998, the programme has supported more than
6,700 projects countrywide through funding of €675
million," he added.
