€30,000 for Inishowen family groups  06.06.08

THREE Inishowen groups who provide marriage, family and bereavement support are to receive a total of nearly €30,000.
Moville and District Family Resource Centre and Inishowen Women’s Outreach will each received €5,000 while the marriage counselling group ACCORD Inishowen will get €18,000.
The money is part of an overall €222,000 allocation to 18 voluntary and community groups in Donegal who provide a wide range of marriage, child and bereavement counselling services and supports.
The funding announced by Department of Social and Family Affairs Minister Mary Hanafin was today welcomed by Donegal Senator Cecilia Keaveney.“ Families are central to our society and today’s allocation will enable the groups involved to help all members of the family including men women and children, to cope with periods of stress and trauma in their lives. I have no doubt that this news will be greatly welcomed by all those concerned."
Meanwhile, Accord's director of counselling John Farrelly said while the organisation was grateful for the funding, it needed ongoing assistance to sustain services throughout the county.
