Gavin to unveil Carn playground design 21.05.08

CELEBRITY gardener Diarmuid Gavin will next week unveil his design for the children's playground section of the Barrack Hill Town Park in Carndonagh.
The people of the town are invited to attend a third session with Gavin - fresh from the Chelsea Flower Show - on Tuesday, May 27. At the session he will reveal his plans for the children's play area of the park.
A Donegal County Council spokesperson explained: "The process has been informed predominately by the local playground committee who have worked tirelessly in their efforts to secure a playground for the children of the town.
"The playground will aim to integrate the whole community and will also provide opportunities for grandparents, mammies and daddies to play together with their children."
The spokesperson said there was "much excitement" among some of Carndonagh’s younger residents about what shape the new playground will take.
Donegal County Council commissioned the popular award-winning gardener to design one of the "most imaginative and ambitious community spaces and play parks" for the north Inishowen town.

The playground with incorporate soft ground and play equipment but for those children over six, who prefer more creative places to play, the park will also include a uniquely-designed landscape area to spark their imagination and meet their needs.
It is hoped this further public meeting, with the designer in attendance, will reap as much feedback from the public as possible. It will take place on Tuesday, May 27 at 8pm in the Aras, Carndonagh Community School. Everyone is welcome to attend.
