Pavarotti cellist returns to Tooban 25.04.08

A CELLIST who has played with such musical greats such as Kiri te Kanawa, Pavarotti, Sinead O'Connor and the Chieftains is returning to Inishowen this Summer.
Jane Hughes is back with her Encore International Summer School at Scoil Naomh Mura in Tooban.
Her 'Encore' is due to the huge success of last year's School which introduced young local musicians to a unique combination of classical and traditional tuition by some of the world's leading musicians.

Cellist Jane Hughes. Tuition at this year's School in July will be given by musicians from the Vienna Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra; top classical guitarist Michael O'Toole; pianist Darina Gibson; Derry soprano Margaret Keys and renowned sean-nós singer Eilín Begley to name but some.
"We found the fusion of both classical and traditional Irish styles
worked really well together last year," said Ms. Hughes, who is artistic director.
"We're hoping that we'll recreate that same chemistry this year and we look forward to welcoming the high calibre tutors back to Inishowen."
Jane, who is from Derry has impressive musical resumé having worked as a freelance cellist with the RTE Concert Orchestra, RTE National Symphony Orchestra and many others. She has performed with artists including Pavarotti, Carreras, Domingo, Charlotte Church, Rod Stewart, Westlife, Sarah Brightman and Meatloaf.
Highlights of this year's programme, supported by Donegal County Council and Fáilte Ireland, include lessons and master-classes, lunch time concerts, chamber music coaching, family music workshops, traditional Irish music workshops, sean-nós singing and Alexander Technique training.
