Recognition for Moville radio producer 14.03.08

A LOCAL radio producer has won a special commendation for his fun children's drama 'Learning with Kitty and Joey'.
Eddie McLaughlin, a producer with ICRfm, received the commendation as part of the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland’s ‘New Adventures in Broadcasting’ Awards.
Eddie who is from Moville and expecting his second child with his wife Sharon described the award as "unexpected".
“This was my first time writing and producing a children's drama so it’s a great feeling. It also encourages me to continue developing new ideas and writing scripts. The scheme itself is very good as it gives people the chance to try new things and be creative,” he said.

O’Keeffe congratulated everyone who took part.
"Since its re-launch in 2007, New Adventures seeks not alone to promote the production of high-quality programming but also to provide an opportunity for participants to learn and develop skills,” said Mr. O'Keeffe.
“Learning With Kitty and Joey” received special praise as it demonstrated how radio can reach out and captivate younger listeners.
Eddie has been a volunteer at ICRfm since 2001 and came on board as a part-time production assistant with the station in 2006.
Station assistant manager, Emma McDermott said Eddie worked extremely hard on the series which aired last October and November.
"The standard of programming for the awards was very high with entries from all radio sectors and competition was tough. Congratulations and well done to Eddie."
Eddie has also come up with a number of other innovative programme ideas and another of his works “Ghostly Encounters” has also received funding from the BCI’s Sound and Vision fund.
