AN exhibition showcasing 200 years of Donegal history will go on display in Inishowen as part the County Archives' tenth anniversary celebrations.
The travelling exhibition entitled 'The Past in the Present' will visit public service centres, libraries and community centres in the county over the next year. Nine panels featuring themes such as homesteads; Donegal 'wains'; fun and games; local democracy, landlords and worship will form part of the showcase.

"The panels contain a brief history of the themes and are accompanied by images scanned from the County Archives collections.
"Images include photographs, posters, leaflets, extracts from letters, registers, minute books and other items," explained Donegal County Archives Service assistant archivist Ciara Joyce. The exhibition is the first of its kind and is the first time a local authority Archives Service in Ireland has put together an exhibition designed entirely around its own collections.
In Inishowen, the exhibition can be viewed at Carndonagh Public Services Centre from November – December 2008. For more information, contact Niamh or Ciara at 074 91 72 490/455 or  archivist@donegalcoco.ie .
