Members of the public have been urged to be careful about the authenticity of goods they purchase after alleged counterfeit goods worth around €15,000 were seized from a premises in Buncrana on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking to the Inishowen Independent yesterday, Sergeant Danny Devlin explained that Gardai visited a premises in the town on Saturday where they seized the allegedly counterfeit dvds, cds and cigarettes.
“A large quantity of goods were confiscated and in total around €15,000 worth of goods were seized,” the local sergeant said.
He urged the public to be careful about the authenticity of the goods they buy and to report anything suspicious to the Gardai.
“The public should be aware that if they buy goods such as these they have no guarantee of quality. What’s more they should realise that when they buy items like this the money is ending up in the wrong hands.”
A full investigation is being carried out as a result of the seizures, Sergeant Devlin added. (Story: Inishowen Independent)
