Tooban's Leanne strikes gold

TOOBAN athlete Leanne
Kelly won a pocketful of gold medals at the
All-Ireland B Cross County Championships in Lough
Key Forest Park, Roscommon, on Sunday. |
Leanne took individual
gold in the under-11 800m race and her performance
helped twin sister Karen and their Finn Valley
teammates to win the team gold in the event. Leanne
also won a county gold with the Donegal team.
It was a great day overall for the Kelly family with
Denver Kelly finishing a very strong eighth in the
boys under-11 800m while older brother Georgie won
silver in the under-13 1,500m race.

“The underfoot conditions were very heavy, but the
day itself was fine and all the children enjoyed
themselves,” proud mum Kathleen said. “They’re all
looking forward to next month’s All-Ireland indoor
championships. |
