Free public speaking workshop 26.01.09

INISHOWEN business women are invited to attend a free public speaking workshop hosted next week by the Donegal Women in Business Network. The workshop will be delivered by Karen Murphy, of the Karen Murphy School of Speech and Drama and will be of interest all women in the peninsula who want to learn about the importance of good communication skills from both a business and a personal perspective. Letterkenny-born Karen spent many years delivering training programmes as an account manager with the 'Irish Times' in Dublin. She returned to Donegal in 2002 and spent several years as a trainer with Young Enterprise Northern Ireland. She set up her Drama and Communications School in 2007. In the workshop, Karen will describe some of the principles and techniques for improving public speaking skills through presentation, role-play and improvisation.
“This is a great opportunity for Inishowen business women to learn from an acknowledged expert in public speaking who is based in Donegal,” said Donegal Women in Business Network president Joan Heaney. “Speaking in public continues to be a huge cause of anxiety for many business people and Karen’s workshop will provide practical advice on how to overcome this."
The event takes place on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 in Gallagher’s Hotel, Letterkenny, from 9.30am to 11am. The workshop is the first in a series of events for the Women in Business Network which will be launched that day.
