ICRfm invites new members  18.05.09

INISHOWEN Community Radio has issued an open invitation to groups and individuals in the peninsula to join the award-winning station. The station's AGM takes place on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 and everyone is invited to take part.
Community or voluntary groups can become a member of the company on payment of an annual membership fee of €20 while a nominated representative is entitled to attend and vote at the AGM and elect members to the board of directors. Any individual member of the public can join the company as a volunteer who can also attend and vote at the AGM.
Jim Doherty Station manager Jim Doherty explained: "As a member of the company and as a representative of your community group I urge you to attend this meeting on the night. The success of the station depends on the support and participation of the community. We have big plans for the future but we need the local community to get more involved and help direct our development." ICRfm aims to be a voice for north Inishowen and hopefully all
of Inishowen when the new all-Inishowen licence is offered later this year. It is owned, operated and controlled by the community of Inishowen. The station provides training to all community groups and individuals to enable them to put forward their aims, views and promote their activities. “The community here has an important role in shaping our future development," added Jim. "Several directors of the current board are stepping down and we need people with vision, drive and commitment to take their place. As a member of the Inishowen community sector or just someone with an interest in radio, I urge you to attend on the night and make your voice heard."
If you would like to get involved, simply call 074 9329105 for more information. The Annual General Meeting of ICRfm will be held in the IDP offices, Pound Street, Carndonagh, on Tuesday, June 2 at 7.30pm.
