Golf balls fly for charity 31.03.09

MANY people think golf is a "fairway to heaven" and a Donegal rotary club hopes to cash in on this to raise funds for Letterkenny Hospital's Oncology Unit and Breast Cancer Clinic. 'Golf Balls from Heaven' is a unique charity stunt being organised by Letterkenny Rotary Club for Saturday, April 25.
A large quantity of golf balls - corresponding to the numbers of tickets sold - will be hoisted in the air by a helicopter to a height of around 60 metres. The helicopter will fly above a target on the ground and the golf balls will be dropped. The balls landing closest to the target will win one of four prizes, from €1000 to €150. There will also be ten more non-cash prizes. The event will take place in Letterkenny Town Park, with bouncy castle, slide, face painting, golfing range and music also planned for a great family day out. Rotary spokesperson Gary Gomringer appealed for support: "We at the Rotary believe that there is practically no family anywhere in County Donegal which has not been, directly or indirectly,
affected by cancer." Tickets will be on sale at stores throughout Letterkenny. For more information, call Gary on 074 9168855.
