‘Princess Rachel’ graces Shroove beach 21.07.09

AN elegant young lady in a flowing white dress and delicate sun parasol turned a few heads at an Inishowen beach last week. Rachel White had everyone thinking they had their dates wrong and asking could it possibly be a Holy Communion day?
Not so, explained mum Georgina, who said the family travelled all the way from their home in Ballybofey to Shroove Beach on July 15, simply to get a few nice snaps by the sea for Rachel's Holy Communion album.
"People are probably thinking I'm not wise," laughed Georgina. "But what odds, it's only a bit of fun and we're getting some nice photos."
Georgina explained that the family-of-five fell in love with Shroove's Blue Flag beach after a visit on St Patrick’s Day when her husband was playing golf at nearby Greencastle Golf Club. Despite several days of summer downpours beforehand, last Wednesday turned out sunny and bright for the snap-happy Whites.
And, what of nine-year old Rachel who actually made her Holy Communion two months ago on May 16? No, she wasn't getting in an early rehearsal for her future wedding day. She was feeling "just like a princess" in her lovely long dress.
