Different site earmarked for Carn NCT 05.03.09

PURCHASE of the proposed site for the NCT centre in Carndonagh has fallen through, Senator Cecilia Keaveney has confirmed.
However, she said she was heartened to learn that progress was again being made on an alternative site for the 2,000 sq ft facility in the north Inishowen town.
“I was extremely disappointed and indeed frustrated that a previous site for the proposed NCT centre fell through. That had been at a very advanced stage and I had been given a date for tests to be commenced," said Senator Keaveney.
"However, it is heartening that we are at the planning permission stage again and I will continue to keep the pressure on to ensure that the NCT centre promised goes ahead.”
NCT testing for Inishowen motorists was to be up and running in Carn by the end of last year. Senator Keaveney said she was, therefore, annoyed that an actual date for commencement was still not confirmed.
She said she would continue to "regularly track" its progress with Noel Brett of the Road
Senator Cecilia Keaveney
Safety Authority which controls the NCT service.
"It has been a long road for this particular issue but I know that it will have been worth the wait as it will make the compulsory motor safety checks much more convenient for many Inishowen residents.
In his confirmation of the current progress, Mr Brett stated: “A site for the 2,000 sq ft test centre has been identified for Inishowen and planning permission is due to the lodged in the near future. Modifications to facilities and fit-out will take place on receipt of statutory approvals, with a view to having the new test centre operational as soon as possible.”
