Active Retirement ceo visits Moville 23.03.09

THE chief executive officer of Active Retirement Ireland has called for more members across Inishowen. Maureen Cavanagh made her appeal during a recent visit to Serenity Active Retirement Group in Moville where she also met members of Buncrana's Active Retirement Association.
"Maureen described the function of the national association and explained how they are always available to help rural groups," explained a spokesperson for Serenity House.
"She also explained how helpful active retirement groups are, especially when people who led busy, active lives prior to retirement, are now seeking an opportunity to make use of their free time by contributing their many talents to the growth and well-being of their community."
Ms Cavanagh also explained that Active Retirement Ireland was concerned with helping with the needs of older people such as in the area of friendship, educational, sporting activities and the organisation of cultural visits and group holidays.
Meanwhile, she commended the Moville group, who have been in existence for the past ten years, for all their achievements.
Serenity House chairperson Maura Cannon presented the Active Retirement ceo with a painting by local artist, John Quigley. For more information on Active Retirement in Inishowen, call Serenity House on 9382945.
