Carn salon makes the cut 23.09.10

A Carndonagh salon that opened just over a year ago has been selected as a finalist in two categories at the prestigious Schwarzkopf Professional Irish Hairdressing Business Awards.
Serenity Hair Design has been nominated in the category of Retail Salon of the Year and Ulster Salon of the Year. The winning salon from each region will then go forward to be considered in the Salon of the Year category.
The annual awards, now in their eighth year, recognise exceptional business acumen and the most talented and committed salons in the Irish hairdressing industry.
Serenity Hair Design owner, Collette Farren, said she and her team were 'thrilled' with the achievement.
"We only celebrated our one year anniversary in June so we are totally chuffed to be nominated for these awards so soon," said Collette, who employs five at her Mill Brae salon. She puts the early success down to a progressive approach to business, their use of organic and mineral products and good customer care including giving brides and their bridal party, breakfast on the big day. The entire Serenity Hair Design team and their partners will travel to the awards ceremony in Dublin on Monday, October 18.
There are 15 different categories in this year’s awards including: Salon Design Award and Editorial Salon of the Year and new to the 2010 awards, the Social Responsibility award and Marketing Salon of the Year Award.
Among this year’s judging panel are former Dragons' Den judge and entrepreneur Richard Farleigh, Global business Ambassador Antony Whitaker and Liam Murphy, President, Henkel UK & Ireland.
Schwarzkopf Professional Ireland national sales manager, Lee Bradshaw, said: “I think what has made the IHBA such a success is that traditionally most hairdressing competitions have been about the best cut or the best colour. We are delighted to be recognising the profession of Irish Hairdressing and the salons that demonstrate both the vision and talent to run a successful business in the current economic climate.”
The 2010 Schwarzkopf Professional Irish Hairdressing Business Awards will take place in the Mansion House, Dublin.
