Cycle to remember slain Gardai 01.09.10

TWO young Gardai killed in the line of duty in Co Donegal last year are to be remembered in a long distance charity cycle.
The 600km cycle from Mizen Head to Malin Head is being undertaken by Garda colleagues and civilians in memory of Garda Robbie McCallion, 29, and Garda Gary McLoughlin, 24, who tragically died while on duty in the county in 2009. The six-day cycle will take place from next Monday, September 6 until Saturday, September 11.
The families of Garda McLoughlin who was from Fenagh, Co Leitrim and Garda McCallion, from Swinford, Co Mayo, have chosen Beaumont Hospital and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Dublin, as beneficiaries of the money raised. A donation will also be given to Letterkenny General Hospital. More than 100 cyclists have so far signed up for the event with around €15,000 raised so far.
Front row: Greg Regan, Conor Mulkerns, Michelle Kelly, Kevin Hynes and John O'Toole. Back: Ronan McKeever, Pat Geraghty and Liam Friel.
A dinner reception will be held at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel, Buncrana, at 7pm on Saturday, September 11. Tickets are €25 each and are available from Letterkenny Garda Station on 91 67100 and Buncrana Garda Station on 93 20540.
