Afke Barr bags €37,000 on Winning Streak 13.05.19

A DUTCH woman, living in Inishowen for more than 30 years won a cool €37,000 when she appeared on the Winning Streak TV game show on Saturday, 11th May.
Afke Barr from Buncrana got her Winning Streak game off to a flier when she won an electric car (Renault Zoe) worth €25,000 on the very first game. She then went on to scoop a further €12,000 in cash from the show.

Afke is originally from the Freisland in the Netherlands but has lived in Ireland for 33 years. She met her husband John Barr in Listowel at the All Ireland Fleadh and the pair have two daughters in their twenties, Caoimhe and Orla.
Afke’s Winning Streak appearance was a result of an unfortunate tragedy following a fire at their business premises in Buncrana which saw the ‘John Barr’ drapery store burn down in February. Thanks to help from the local community, the business shortly reopened at another premises and a good luck card containing a Winning Streak scratch card was the one which was pulled out by presenters Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy two weeks ago.
Afke was surrounded in the RTÉ studios by her close friends and neighbours on Saturday evening and was delighted with her family’s change of fortune.
