Quigley’s Point health centre to reopen in March 21.02.18

Fianna Fáil TD for Donegal Charlie McConalogue has welcomed the news that the Quigley’s Point health centre will be reopened by the end of March.
The centre has been closed since August due to the widespread flooding which impacted many areas across the peninsula.
Deputy McConalogue has been in constant contact with the HSE, and the health authority has now confirmed that the facility is due to re-open before the end of March.
“The latest correspondence from the HSE indicates that the initial timeframe for the reopening of the Quigley’s Point health centre has been brought forward from the end of April and is now expected to be open before the end of March”, said Deputy McConalogue.
“The damage caused to the health centre this summer has resulted in the cancellation of the satellite GP service, which serves local residents. This has caused major upheaval for older people and people who are not fully mobile as they have found it incredibly difficult to access GP services. The closure of the health centre has also increased pressure on GP services in Moville.
“People in Inishowen are still suffering the effects of last August’s flooding however, I am pleased that the HSE has taken account of the importance of this service to the local community and saw fit to expedite works following my representations.
Deputy Charlie McConalogue.
“There are still a number of challenges facing residents in Inishowen in the wake of the floods, and although the government Ministers took a trip to the peninsula, the government response as a whole has not been good enough. I will be continuing to work on the behalf of all those affected to ensure that this Government follows through on its commitments to people in the affected areas.”
