DONEGAL County Council
is inviting people to take part in a free two-day
training project designed to raise awareness about
how local actions can impact the wider world.
The 'Act Local, Think Global' scheme will kick off
this week in Carndonagh but booking is essential.
The council is hosting the project through the EU
funded LADDER project and is the only local
authority in Ireland participating in the project.
Co-ordinator JoAnne Kilmartin said: "There is a
growing interest in locally produced foods and this
is great not only in terms of healthy eating but
also from a sustainable development perspective.
Food that is grown locally can reach our plates
quickly reducing air miles and other transport costs
and this will ultimately have a positive impact on
“We are working with Patsy Toland from Gorta Self
Help Africa who is well known for his work in
schools around the county and Patsy will facilitate
this training. Participants will also have an
opportunity to develop projects and apply for grant
aid to assist them in developing these ideas
Training will take place in Carndonagh on March 10
and April 8 and in Donegal Town on March 15 and
April 7. To book your place contact
