Partnership has secured funding to run two
innovative training programmes for young jobseekers
in the county with a keen interest in sport.
The training courses will target 18 to 35 year olds
who are currently unemployed but who would like a
future career in sport.
Each of the training programmes will be of 14 weeks
duration - two days per week - and will combine both
theory and practical elements.
The programmes will be sport specific with one
soccer-based in conjunction with the Finn Harps
Schools initiative and the other focusing on outdoor
pursuits in partnership with Gartan Outdoor
Other generic modules on both courses will include
training and coaching, job readiness skills and
Participants will also have the opportunity of
getting plenty of hands-on practical experience
through a job placement module.
The courses are part of a national initiative
spearheaded by the Irish Sports Council.
"A working group has been established to oversee
implementation of the initiative and includes
representatives from key partner organisations
including; Donegal ETB, Gartan Outdoor Education
Centre, Donegal Sports Partnership and Finn Harps
Schools Programme," said a spokesperson.

of Social Protection with whom we will work closely
