€750K for Letterkenny Institute of Technology 11.12.15

DONEGAL Minister Joe McHugh has welcomed the allocation of €750,000 to Letterkenny Institute of Technology to carry out maintenance and development of facilities and equipment.
“I am delighted that LYIT is to receive €750,000 in funding as part of a nationwide Infrastructure Maintenance Fund Grant for institutes of technology, worth €10million. The Institutes can use the funds to discharge costs already incurred on a range of small-scale building works, refurbishment of existing facilities and/or upgrading equipment," he said. He said he was delighted to attend the recent official opening of the North West Science Park - part of a €250 million regional jobs strategy. He revealed that there is a 100% occupancy in Fort George, Derry and a 60% occupancy at LYIT as part of the business project. Meanwhile, he said the regional Action Plan for Jobs aimed to create 28,000 more jobs in the north west region by 2020.
