Greencastle woman set to stand for Fianna Fáil 10.12.13

GREENCASTLE woman Mary McCauley looks set to be a local election candidate for Fianna Fáil after a recent meeting of its Foyle area cumainn unanimously chose her as their representative to go forward to the party's upcoming Inishowen Candidate Selection Convention.
A mother of five, Mary is married to estate agent Leo McCauley. Fianna Fáil said the well known local woman would "bring a wealth of experience to the campaign".
She is a board member of North East Inishowen Tourist Development Co Ltd (NEITDC) a local community development organisation dedicated to the promotion of tourist and economic growth in our local area. NEITDC have developed and built Moville Business Park and have run 20 successive FAS CE Schemes which

- often in association with Donegal County Council - have improved the look and well-being of the whole area.
Mary has also served on Greencastle Playgroup committee and is currently a member of Moville Community College Action Group which is campaigning for much-needed Phase 2 building works to begin.
She was a board member of the Northern Ireland Community Relations Council for five years as well as being an original member of the City Partnership Board which laid the foundation for Derry’s current regeneration.
A graduate of Magee university with a degree in Business Studies, Mary is also an experienced event manager and has organised and co-ordinated numerous conferences, festivals and events.
She described Foyle cumainn's decision to choose her as "a great honour".
"I think being a working mother with five children - including two sets of twins - helps me to understand the stresses and strains on local families, small businesses, the sick and the elderly and hopefully I can use this experience to benefit the whole community," she said.
"It is a great honour for me to be chosen to go forward for selection and I give my assurance to all those who are putting their faith in me that I will give my utmost effort to be a strong and effective voice for our area."
