DERRY Mayor, Cllr
Martin Reilly has today welcomed an expansion by
Fujitsu with 192 new jobs for the city.
The investment will be worth £12m by the company
over a three-year period and will further enhance
the company’s existing operation in the city. It
will also see the establishment of a new Business
Services Centre at the company's Timber Quay site.
“These high quality jobs are representative of the
success and confidence the company has in Derry,"
said Cllr Reilly.
"Fujitsu met key local partners on a number of
occasions over the last year and were impressed by
the positive outlook of the City of Culture and the
city’s skills base and innovation.
"Derry City Council has a very good working
relationship with the company and played an
essential role in bringing about this announcement
today. This is a really good news story for the city
as our hugely successful City of Culture year draws
to a close and we focus on the lasting legacy of the
year and the positive developments in terms of
investment and jobs for the city as a lasting
Derry City Council chief executive, Sharon O’Connor,
was one of the local team who met the company during
these visits. She said: "We were delighted to be
invited by Invest NI to meet the company and to help
them make the decision to locate these new jobs
here. Their senior team were very impressed by the
quality of the people and the place and we are
delighted that our vibrant City of Culture has
helped them choose to grow here."
