Buncrana murder widely condemned
12.02.12
THERE has been
widespread condemnation of the murder of Andrew
Allen in Buncrana.
Church of Ireland Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Ken
Good, described the killing as "an outrageous and
inhuman act”.
Bishop Good said: “Our community believes in the
rule of law. We also stand for the sacredness of
human life. This callous act and the impact it has
on Andrew Allen’s family shocks us all. We stand
united in condemnation of this brutal murder and
state that nothing can possibly justify it. Out
thoughts and prayers are with this young man’s
family."
Derry District Policing Partnership Chair,
Councillor Thomas Conway also condemned the murder
of the 24 year old Derry man.
“Firstly, I would like to extend my sympathy to the
young man’s immediate family and friends and I would
remind those who carried out this murder that
elected representatives north and south were all
elected on a mandate of support for the PSNI and An
Garda Siochána," said Cllr Conway.
"The people who carried out this attack have no
support in our communities and I would urge anyone
with any information in relation to this crime to
contact either the PSNI or An Garda Siochána
immediately.” |

Buncrana parish priest
Fr John Walsh said ordinary people in the town were
angered by the killing.
"There's contempt for the people who have
perpetrated this crime. There's a cold fury that a
young man should, no matter what his background,
have been gunned to death in our community.
"We have our own forces of law and order in this
town. People do not want this," he told the BBC. |
