AC 'Malin' to grace Christmas Cup 09.12.11

ONCE again this year Paddy McGuinness and Carndonagh FC are running the popular Christmas Cup at the Astro Pitch, St. Patrick's Park, Carndonagh.
Sixteen teams from Carn, Malin, Glengad, Malin Head, Gleneely, Culdaff and Muff will compete for the coveted trophy. The 7-a-side competition will run during Christmas week with all group games being played on Tuesday 27th December and Wednesday 28th December. The quarter-finals will take place on Thursday 29th December with the semi finals and final on Friday 30th December.
The event is being run in memory of former club secretary, Michael Doherty (Newman), and proceeds are going to Donegal Hospice. Michael's son, Fergal, and his 'Newmanator' team are defending the trophy but they face stiff competition from the likes of AC Malin, Bayer Neverlusen and Crossroads Elite. A special challenge match between an Inishowen over 40s Select v a Derry over 40s Select will also take place on Finals Day at 2pm just before the Christmas Cup Final. Refreshments will be available at the clubhouse on each match day and there will be plenty of entertainment on show for the spectators to enjoy. A new cup kindly sponsored by Simpsons/Tul na Ri is on offer for the winners of this year's competition. There will also be individual awards presented to the 'Player of the Tournament', 'Top Goalscorer', and the dreaded 'Christmas Turkey'. So please come along and support this charity event and have a good day's craic!
