Inishowen Youths snatch victory 11.11.11

Inishowen...2

Mayo...1

Report: Inishowen Independent

INISHOWEN Youths scored two goals in the final three minutes to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against Mayo at Maginn Park.
After falling behind early in the second-half, the talented hosts hit back when Jason Doherty struck a late equaliser before Niall McLaughlin curled in a dramatic last gasp winner.
Both teams had served up a very competitive and entertaining game in which Inishowen dominated the first-half. Mayo fared better in the second period and having opened the scoring early in the half they defended their lead well and counter attacked at every opportunity.
As in most games the opening period was very even with both teams seemingly content to size each other up with the result that play was confined mostly to the middle third.
As the half wore on the home side grew in confidence and created several opportunities to go in front.
The second-half had a similar beginning to the first with the two teams content to keep possession and build their attacks slowly and deliberately.
Overall this was a game played in the right way and correct spirit and both teams can feel justifiably proud of their efforts.
