Niall Boyle, 23, from Altnagelvin, Derry, says goodbye to his mum as he heads off to take part in the Clipper race. Niall is one of five locals who won a Derry City Council bursary to represent the city on board the Derry~Londonderry yacht in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race2011-12. He will take part in the first leg of the journey and will participate in two races, taking in ports such as Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Mr Frank Faulkner's Presidents Day at Greencastle Golf Club was won by Liam McCourt (6) with 42 points.
Rosaleen McKinney's Lady Presidents Day at Greencastle Golf Club was won by Rosie Browne (22) with 40 points.
Some of the audience who attended a talk and exhibition in the Plaza recounting the 1981 Hunger Strike. Among the speakers were Raymond McCartney MLA who spent 53 days on hunger strike; Marie Doherty who was on the blanket protest in Armagh Gaol and Mary Nelis, a founding member of the Relatives Action Committee.

Carndonagh Community School pupils, Mark Doherty, Conal McNeill, Rachel McLaughlin, Catherine McGilloway and Andrew Stewart with Ms Máire Mathews (Maths co-ordinator and Year Head in Carndonagh CS). The pupils were selected to participate in the Irish Maths Teachers Association First Year Quiz National Final in Stranorlar in May. Rachel McLaughlin got first place in the region and fifth overall in Ireland. She was also the highest achieving girl in the country.
